Having arrived in another state on vacation or for work, in addition to housing, it is important to organize the transport issue. An excellent solution is to rent a car, because it is as convenient as possible. In many countries, it is often possible to rent a car without problems on the day of arrival. But there are states, for example, France and Italy, it is better to book transport in advance, three or four days in advance.

The main points to consider when renting a car abroad

Each state has its own laws and, of course, traffic rules. Before deciding to rent a vehicle in a particular country, you should study and weigh everything in detail. It is necessary to pay attention to such main points.

The cost of renting a car

In various countries, the average car rental per day is about $ 20-40. Depending on the rental period, the cost may vary, the longer the period, the lower the rental price per day. In addition, it is important to take into account the availability of additional expenses - insurance, taxes, fuel, toll highways.

Required documents

  • Passport of the person renting the car.

  • A driver's license, often of international standard.

Driver's license requirements

In Bulgaria, drivers who do not have an international license are fined, and rental companies do not always warn their customers about this. In Vietnam and Malta, not only international law is recognized, but also the driver's license of his country of residence. At the same time, in Vietnam, a simple exam should be passed, according to the results of which the driver receives a mark from the local traffic police. In Malta, when renting a car, you need to approve the rights of the driver's country of residence at the Police Department, which is located in Floriana.

Age restrictions

To rent a vehicle, a person must be at least

  • 22 years old in Portugal;

  • 21 years old in Bulgarulgaria;

  • 25 years in Cyprus arus and Greece;

  • 19-24 years old (depending on the rental coal company) in the UK.

In most countries of the world, the maximum allowed age for taking transport is 60-70 years. An important point is also the driving experience, which must be at least 1-3 years.

Traffic rules

It is very important to study the traffic rules of a certain country before renting a vehicle abroad. You should also familiarize yourself with such points as the manner and style of driving of local drivers, road signs, possible fines and their sizes. For example, left-hand traffic in such countries as Japan, India, Barbuda and Antigua, Great Britain and others.

Execution of the contract

You should sign a car rental agreement with the company only after a detailed study of it. It is worth getting acquainted with the technical condition of the car, pay attention to various payments. Car damage, various scratches and defects must be specified in the contract. It is important that the insurance terms are specified in a separate clause in the contract. You should carefully choose the type of insurance. In most countries, the insurance is minimal, which will not cover an accident or serious breakdown. Any rental company, when signing a contract, charges a cash deposit from the client or requires that a certain amount be frozen on a credit card until the vehicle is returned.

Some tips to avoid trouble when renting a car abroad

  • Choose a rental company carefully and thoughtfully. Give preference to reputable companies with a good reputation. There are companies with branches throughout the country. This is convenient, because you can take a car in one locality and return it in another. This point is necessarily provided for in the contract.

  • Study the contract and the papers you will sign very carefully. Specify all the conditions for renting and returning the vehicle.

  • You must return the car in the same condition as you took it. Many companies give it with a full tank of fuel, so don't forget to refuel the car before returning. Otherwise, penalties provided for by the rental rules are possible.

  • Be sure to buy road maps of the cities where you plan to drive. An excellent option, of course, is a GPS navigator, with which you will definitely not get lost.
