Electric cars are increasingly filling the roads of Kazakhstan, our company is not lagging behind the trends. In the near future, Rentacars plans to replenish its fleet with an electric car. In this regard, we have relevant news from the world of electric vehicles.
Rentacars.kz I learned that the electric rallycross series can be launched in single Formula 1 races.
The move will be part of a manufacturing-based initiative to promote electric vehicles. The support for Formula E is favorable because the sport already attracts large crowds in city centers. Competition with cars with familiar body shapes is also considered a crucial factor in contributing to the fact that the technology developed and demonstrated in Formula E is relevant to road cars.
Wolfgang Durheimer, head of motorsport strategy at Volkswagen Group, said:
This is one of the possibilities that we are considering. The idea of an electric rallycross is perfect; the cars are impressive and the races are short, so the cars can be charged in between races. This could be the perfect addition to the E» Formula. It is unclear whether the proposal will run rallycrosses on the same asphalt tracks as single races, or whether an off-road section will need to be included in each track. However, the American Global Rallycross series has previously demonstrated that city centers can also have short off-road sections as well as impressive jumps.
Earlier this month, Audi confirmed that it will take control of the leading Abt Schaeffler team next Formula E season. However, Durheimer hinted that more than one VW Group brand can compete in Formula E, and the brands share the development costs.
Sources have suggested that the second team may be represented by Skoda, which heads the development of small electric vehicles of the VW Group and presented the concept of the Vision E crossover this year in Shanghai.
PSA Group has previously announced its support for the electric rallycross series and is currently competing in Formula E with its DS brand.
